How to detect the failure of the fuel injection pump of the generator set

The 50kW generator fuel injection pump is an important part of the fuel supply system. Its working state directly affects the power and economy of diesel generators. During the operation of the diesel generator, once the high-pressure oil pump fails, it is difficult to directly judge its failure. In order to let users learn to detect the failure of the fuel injection pump faster and better, the generator manufacturer will share several methods for detecting the failure of the fuel injection pump.

(1) listen

When the diesel generator is idling, touch the injector lightly with a large screwdriver and listen to the sound of the injector running. If it is a big gong and drum, it means that there is too much oil or fuel, and the fuel is injected too early. If the knocking sound is small, the amount of oil displayed is too low or the injection time is too late.

(2) Oil cut off

The diesel generator is idling during normal operation, and then the nut of the cylinder high pressure pipe is cut off to spray the fuel out of the cylinder. When the high-pressure oil pipe is reduced, the speed and sound of the diesel generator will change greatly, and the working efficiency of the cylinder will also decrease. This method can also be used to judge the black smoke fault of diesel engine. When the smoke from the fuel injection pump disappears, the fuel pipe is cut off, indicating that the cylinder fuel injector is not well atomized.

(3) Pulsation method

When the 50kw generator is running, press the high pressure oil pipe and feel the pulsation of the high pressure oil pipe. If the pulse is too large, it means that the fuel supply of the cylinder is too large, otherwise it means that the fuel supply of the cylinder is too small.

(4) Method of comparing temperature

After the diesel generator is started, after running for 10 minutes, touch the exhaust pipe temperature of each cylinder. If the temperature of one exhaust pipe is higher than the temperature of the other cylinders, the fuel supply to that cylinder may be too high. If the temperature is lower than the temperature of the other exhaust pipes, the cylinder is not working properly and the fuel supply may be too low.

(5) How to check the color

For normal diesel generator exhaust emissions, when the load increases, the normal color should be light gray, dark gray. If the smoke color of the 50kw generator is white or blue smoke at this time, it indicates that the diesel generator fuel system is faulty. If it is a black smoke mixture, it means that the diesel fuel is not fully burned (due to blockage of the air filter, oil supply is suspended, etc.); if the smoke color is white smoke or there is water in the diesel fuel, or the mixture gas is not fully burned at all. If blue smoke is emitted continuously, it means that the oil enters the cylinder and burns.
